The Lions

Been meaning to ask if anyone hear has seen or heard much of The Lions. I stumbled accross them when looking for some YouTube goodness for an outfit called Connie Price and the Keystones (an album I picked up called Wildflowers). These guys were amazing, huge melodic brass lines over some of the crustiest jamaican funk I ever heard.

Not fully up on the whole story, but I did find this video of The Lions on YouTube which apparently had members of Connie Price and the Keystones:

I loved the sound even though it was rough jamming in the studio.

Turns out that they live in CA and have released some stuff which I'll check out soon. Be interested to hear if anyone knows much about them or if they have heard them play.

New Beginnings
trickstar, April 04/27/08, 2008
Feel it's a good time to try something new with the changes at Versionist taking place late last week.

Hopefully people will be patient with the number of unfinished tracks I put up here. As a producer I am searching for different sounds and styles; experimenting and enjoying - feedback is a great thing where this is concerned. I also dig collaboration but time is tight so it doesn't happen very often.

I dabble in plenty of genres but the reggae of Studio 1 from the 60's and 70's is where its at for me - the Upsetters are an inspiration musically and when Lee Perry was at the controls some magic often happened.

Anyway, enough blabbing. Looking forward to hearing the work of the artists on this site. Over the next few weeks I'll start uploading some of my faves from various stages as well as new stuff as it happens.

Thanks to the site creators and admins (and Irish Moss for letting me know this place existed).

Peace
